I've always found an unusual sense of belonging in the prolonged winters of the upper midwest. It's the frenzy of a four-season year that give me a reason to stay, not leave.
I grew up in northwestern Wisconsin, and am pursuing my passions as a sports journalist based in Duluth, Minnesota. In April of 2018, I joined the team at KBJR 6 News as a sports anchor/reporter. I've since been promoted to Sports Director.
Before moving to Duluth, I studied at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a major in journalism and a minor in music.
While in Eau Claire, I worked as a part-time sports videographer at WQOW News 18, shooting high school, college, and professional sports. I was also an on-air analyst for their weekly 'Sports OT Online Wrap' segment, breaking down area high school sports. When needed, I filled in as a sports anchor for television broadcasts.
In addition to working professionally, I was heavily involved with student broadcast media. As the Sports Director of UWEC TV-10, I anchored a weekly 'Blugold News Now' sports segment, and assisted the athletic department with live athletic broadcasts. Outside of broadcasting, I wrote for the athletic department's website, Blugolds.com, specifically following the volleyball team as a beat writer.
If you're curious about my minor, music was my first love. I went to college with plans to follow in my grandfather's footsteps as a music educator, but soon realized that the classroom wasn't for me. I still love music to this day, and will still pick up the trombone from time to time.
My fan allegiances lie with the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Minnesota Wild. In a perfect world, I'd cover basketball and golf for a living, but I welcome any opportunity to pursue my passions in sports.
